James Stacy Wilcox was born on April 15, in Benton, Tennessee. At
the age of 12, his uncle
(Bud) started taking him to local bluegrass festivals in South East
Tennessee. Stacy loved bluegrass
music so much he wanted to play. He started learning to play the
guitar. It wasn't long until he
realized that his heart was set on picking the banjo. At age 14, he
started playing with his first
band, thanks to his mentors Billy Brown and Ed James. Stacy has won
numerous first place
banjo and band championships.
Over the years Stacy has performed with Tim Graves and
Cherokee. Most recently he has toured with
David Parmley and Continental Divide. While touring with Continental
Divide he has played with the
Bluegrass Cardinals. Stacy begin filling - in with the Bluegrass
Mountaineers in 2003. He joined the
group in 2004. He plays the upright bass and on occasions, the
banjo. Stacy sings baritone vocals.
He plays a vivid role in supporting the bluegrass mountaineers
concerts.
November of 2003, Stacy married Larry & Lisa Efaw daughter
Becky. They have a 2 year old
son Christopher. A beautiful 1 year old daughter, Kendra. They are
expecting a new bundle of joy,
Due to arrive in early March. Stacy enjoys spending time with his
family, being outdoors, and jamming.
He is a faithful member of the Massillon Church of Christ. Stacy is
thankful God has given him a
wonderful talent, being able to pick bluegrass music.
