   Edward Efaw is better known as Beanpole. He was born on September 5, in Mannington, West Virginia. At the age of 22 he started his own band, Jug Head and Beanpole and the Bluegrass Ramblers. Although The Bluegrass Ramblers played bluegrass music, they were best known for their comedian act. In the early 60's he changed the name of the band to the Bluegrass Mountaineers. He plays the guitar and sings lead and bass vocals. Beanpole wrote many of the songs that the Bluegrass Mountaineers perform. He is a BMI songwriter. He plays a vivid role in supporting the bluegrass mountaineers concerts. His musical career was influenced by The Stanley Brothers and Flatt & Scruggs.

    Bluegrass Music has always played a major role in Beanpoles life. When he started raising a family, he made sure his six children knew about the ole time bluegrass music. Beanpole is kept busy by his 11 grandchildren and 5 great - grandchildren. Over the years he has introduced all of this grandchildren to traditional bluegrass music. Three generations of his family perform in the band. It won't be much longer until he adds the fourth generation. His great grandchildren love listening to their "Pappy" play.

    He enjoys spending time with his family and his 5 cats. He loves the holidays, his family all gathers together. He loves traveling and playing bluegrass music.
